This is my recent letter to several GBC members from Europe regarding their recent resolution about Hridayananda Dasa Goswami:
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
Daily for the last few days I have been receiving emails from devotees in different parts of the world, all asking me the same questions: “Why?” ; “What are the specific reasons?”
They are referring, of course, to the official (but temporary, Lord Chaitanya willing) Euro GBC resolution regarding Hridayananda Maharaja. When the GBC speaks of “the difficulties which resulted from the recent visit [in Europe] of Hridayananda das Goswami,” you can well imagine the reaction: what difficulties, specifically?
I was physically present with Hridayananda Maharaja, every day, during his entire three-month European tour. I do not think that anyone aside from me could have gotten a better hands-on perspective on his daily routine and on how devotees across Europe received him. Nobody from the Euro GBC asked to hear my testimony. I, like the many devotees asking me for clarification, desire to know the specifics of why the Euro GBC deemed it necessary to publicly (and albeit temporarily) ban Hridayananda Maharaja from visiting Europe.
I thus humbly request you to tell me, at least in general terms but preferably in a specific list, what exactly the GBC is referring to. I owe it to the devotees writing to me, and I respectfully think that you – as GBCs’, owe it to loyal, rank-and-file devotees like me.
Chandrashekhara acharya dasa
Ps1- Another question I may ask is why did the Euro GBC refuse to allow Hridayananda Maharaja to be present at the conference via Skype, in spite of Hridaya Caitanya prabhu requesting it not once, but twice? I witnessed Hridaya Caitanya prabhu personally promise to Hridayananda Maharaja, in Radhadesh, that he would request that he (Hridayananda Maharaja) be present during the meetings via Skype. Hridaya Caitanya prabhu informed me that he indeed asked the GBC twice. What happened?
Ps2- Below are excerpts from some letters I have received in the last few days. These types of statements, coming from all over the world, convince me that the best course of action that the GBC can take is to make Krishna West an official “order” of ISKCON. Prabhupada told us to follow the example of the Catholic Church, in which the Franciscan, Dominican, Benedictine (and many other) orders all have their own identities and yet operate under the official umbrella of the Vatican. Given the growing popularity of the Krishna West approach around the globe, why should the GBC not welcome it as an order of ISKCON?
Feedback from devotees asking why!?
Hare Krsna My Friend!
Did you read the resolution of the Euro RGB?
I feel so depressed, sad and also very angry.
I also feel so close to Hridayananda Maharaja, thinking of how he must be feeling in this moment and the level of sadness and frustration he has to cope with.
Still can’t believe that they have had a meeting on HDG.
They do not want to allow him to go to the Yatras but they cannot ban him from visiting private houses and or other places outside Iskcon… Right??
Dear Candrashekar Acarya Prabhu,
I am personally convinced of the absolute necessity of having a Western HK movement if ISKCON hopes to successfully spread KC in the west.
I am writing to ask if you have or if you know of a resource that presents Prabhupada’s myriad quotes authorizing the use of western dress. I think that if there is web page or article online that provides these citations in bulk, then devotees who are in favor of Krishna West and are trying to preach in that way may have an easier time responding to criticism from other members of ISKCON.
Haribolo Prabhu, My Obeisances!! AGTSP!! I found this Meme very funny and a nice excuse to dont argue with close minded people that are against Krishna West. As once i read from Srila Prabhupada, “aunque los perros ladren, la carreta avanza” [dogs may bark but the caravan will go on].
Keep it on!!! Your servant from Panama
I am so unhappy about the GBC. For me, they are basically telling Hridayananda Maharaja, “How dare you inspire devotees in Europe!”
It’s so unfair, so unfair.
You know, I just noticed the lack of Vaishnava etiquette from the Euro GBC in their “dealings” against Acharyadeva. When they refer to all other Maharajas, they use the term “His Holiness” before their name. But in the case of Hridayananda Maharaja they don’t use that prefix. The minimum they could do is mention the honorific title before his name, as with everyone else. But anyway, lamentably it shows that something is missing in them. Thanks for your support for Krishna West; you can count on me and my wife.

I’ve listened to almost all the lectures given in Europe (by Hridayananda Dasa Goswami), and they are all fantastic, he’s able to answer everyone’s doubt on KW with a well thought out response. I’ve listened to them at work, where there are new devotees and non devotees and everyone likes HH HDG preaching in these lectures. There are members of ISKCON who support KW and want to preach in this way. Some people like KW and others might not, but they should both respect each others preaching/ lifestyle. You shouldnt try to force others to adapt to your style of preaching. Which it seems the GBC is doing. At one point I was against KW, now listening to lectures I am a supporter of this preaching/organization. Hare Krishna.
